At Massimo’s gelato makers perform their craft on the spot. The scent of pistachios and hazelnuts fills the atmosphere, exactly as we like it. It’s the promise of a store filled with happy people enjoying gelato.

We want to bring our delicious heritage to you. Gelato feels like a little hug that you grant yourself to make a beautiful moment even more delightful or to brighten an unpleasant event. A small investment with great impact.
Making gelato is a precision process, which we continuously aim to improve. Each ingredient brings its own unique character to the recipe. That’s why we use natural ingredients from suppliers we know well, such as pistachios from Bronte in Sicily, hazelnuts from Piemonte and lemons from the South; usually from the regions of Naples or Sicily. And milk from a local farmer close to Amsterdam.
Once we’ve made the gelato, we want to keep it tasty and in the best condition. That’s why we chose the best storage possible: Pozzetti. It keeps the temperature just right, protects the gelato from the stress of light and air and is also hygienic and sustainable.
Each gelato is made where it is served by our colleagues. As we stand in one of our open kitchens, we see people walking by with happy faces and holding gelato in their hands. At the same time, we enjoy the smells of just roasted pistachios, almonds or the juice of lemons in the kitchen. It makes us happy to make you happy.

When I was young, my grandmother taught me how to make gelato from scratch. Later in life, I became nostalgic for the natural taste of gelato. No added colours or flavours, no chemical emulsifiers, no halffabricates, just gelato naturale the way my grandparents made it. So in 2017, I decided to open a gelateria in Amsterdam in the style of my childhood. The only way I knew was with amore, passione e pozzetti.

Beside gelato we also serve homemade pastry and traditional caffé Our Pasticceria is made with the same ingredients we use to make gelato like ricotta, hazelnuts and pistachio. These pair perfectly with our caffé , which comes from a family that Massimo has known since childhood: Giovannacci Caffe. These long-standing partnerships, from our home country to local Dutch suppliers, are at the heart of Massimo Gelato.
